Lipstick

In the middle of March (I'm behind again on my Blogging!), Robynn and I went to Shopper's Drug Mart to pick up a couple of things. While I was talking with the Beauty Consultant, my precious daughter was, well, helping herself to the samples. When we realised what Robynn had done (literally, it only took 30 seconds of our being backs turned...), the Beauty Consultant ran for makeup remover, and I ran for my camera. So glad that I did - this one will be played at her wedding!

Reid Family Celebrates Nathan's 11th

On March 14th, Nathan turned 11! ELEVEN! I remember going to the hospital when he was born! We went twice on his birth-day - the first time, please note that he was the very first NEWBORN (like 2 hours old) that I'd ever seen. I was wondering why the doctor wasn't in the room of this blue little cone-headed child! All was good after it was explained that this was what new-borns really look like (nothing like what they show on TV). We saw him again later in the day, and he was round and pink and adorable! As I was holding this wonderful little bundle of joy, I was thinking... Hmmm, I wonder if Russ knows how much I want one of these! His Dad even remarked that he (Russ) needed to watch out, because it looked like I had the baby bug. Eleven years ago, Russ and I were still dating - we didn't get married for another two years, so it was nearly six and a half years to the day that we had one of these little bundles of joy ourselves - much to Nathan's chagrin, it was a girl!

Anyway, as is tradition, we Reids all gathered for cake and presents. I was very relieved to have been served ice cream cake (don't have to chew that!).

Prezzies, cake, and colouring on bodies??? Don't all birthday parties have colouring on bodies? I think Auntie Jodi started with tattoos, but things escalated so that all of the girls (and we Reids make a lot of girls) were covered in doodles!

Okay, I always say "Reids" when in fact there are other contingents to this ever growing group. Grace is really an "Alexander," but we love her just the same!!! Here she is showing off her tattoos...

This photo is from our wedding - Nathan was 2. Nathan was our ring bearer. He was wearing a wool suit; it was August 13; heat stroke happened. Between the ceremony and the reception, his Mom had to take him to the emergency!

Bumbo!

Well, Natasha may - technically - be too young for the Bumbo seat, but she doesn't know it! She loves being a part of the action, and sits in her Bumbo like it were a thrown for her royal magesty. She's very strong, and she holds her head up like a pro, so... All we have to do is teach her how to play chess!

Citadel Baby Shower

Yesterday was a fun day! The staff of Citadel Middle (my work) threw a baby shower for the babies that were born in the past year to staff of the school. There were seven!

Here are all of the babies together in reverse birth order: Natasha (December), Keelan(November), Matteo (October), Max (September), Brea (August), Susanna (August), & Kelsey (June)

Natasha got to meet Miss Joanne - Joanne is such a wonderful lady - and I was very privledged to work with her for a few years before her retirement.

My school knows how to put on a spread, and there was no lack of food or fun to be had! The babes and mums had a great time playing and chatting with everyone. And we are all so thankful for our special - personalized - gifts! Natasha loves her towel! It says: "Splish Splash Natasha's taking a Bath" - I'll have to get some shots of her showing it off. Thank you Citadel.

Prayers Answered!

Yeah!!!! My biggest prayer throughout this whole surgery ordeal was that I not lose my milk, that Natasha wouldn't lose weight, that me choosing to do this surgery at this time would not adversely affect my littlest daughter. AND IT HASN'T!!!!!!

I went to the PoCo health clinic last Thursday and weighed Natasha - their scale said she was: 16.3 lbs.

I went to the Maple Ridge health clinic today, and weighed Natasha - this scale said she was: 17.1 lbs.

Given that these were two different scales, there may be a small margin of error. Regardless, my daughter gained A POUND in ONE WEEK!!!!!!! Woo Hoo!!!

The reason for going to the health clinic today was to get Natasha her two month shots (I'm a little late for two months, but better late than never). She was a trooper for the shots, and now I'm just going to be Paranoid Mum for the next 24 - 36 hours. Wish me luck!

Happy Valentine's Day

Aren't the two little "Sweet Hearts" adorable in their matching Valentine PJs? These PJs were a gift to my girls from our wonderful friend Lynda! Can you believe that Robynn's are a size 6 and Natasha's are 6 - 12 months!!! Oh my goodness how big my two girls are already!

For Valentine's the girls each received two books - the best presents of all...

In keeping with trying to do a weekly family event, Russ and I bundled up our Angels and took them for a walk to the Pitt Meadows Airport. We had such a good time; we didn't want to go home, so we continued on up to Bonson Park to spend some more family time. What an awesome day!

Chocolate from the wine lady!

Jessica came over after my surgery to entertain my eldest daugter. Jess was just awesome! She picked Robynn up from preschool on Tuesday, made her one of her favourite lunches: calamata olives - with the pits removed, smoked applewood chedder - but only the parts with the red stuff on it, crackers, and grapes! Now what 4 year old wouldn't be thrilled with that kind of lunch? I have a strange kid... Then the two of them went swimming for TWO hours!

Of course, Jessica had pre-made dinner. So Robynn and Jess sat down to yummy homemade cannelloni with salad and garlic cheese bread (I had a sippy cup of broth!), and for dessert there was the best smelling apple crisp with vanilla ice cream! No, I wasn't jealous... Because Russ wasn't home that night, Jess stayed and read to Robynn and tucked her in. Awww...

The next morning, Auntie Jessica was back just after breakfast and was conned into playing a game of Simpsons Chess (I got this game for Russ when we were dating - Robynn loves the characters!), then they were off to Jungle Jacs! Jess stayed there playing with Robynn for FOUR hours!

When they came home, since Natasha and I were sleeping, Jess set Robynn up with her laptop and The Little Mermaid. Robynn was so lucky she even got to watch Peter Pan afterwards too!

Daddy came home during the movie marathon and, having not seen his 4-year old in over a day, asked her what she'd been up to. Her reply had nothing to do with the pool, Jungle Jacs, the yummy food, the games, the movies.... No, my daughter said, "I got a chocolate from the lady at the wine store!" Oh my goodness did we laugh!!! Apparently, after shopping for some groceries that day, Jessica took Robynn into the BC Liquor store to buy a bottle of wine for dinner. Robynn was given a chocolate to celebrate dry grad. This is what she remembers most fondly of her two days with Auntie Jessica! You know, it's kind of fitting...
